RRB ALP Vacancy: The day after the Kanchenjunga train accident in West Bengal on Monday, the Railway Board has issued orders for the recruitment of 18,799 Assistant Loco Pilots (Drivers) with immediate effect. The Railway Board has directed the General Managers of all the Zonal Railways to complete the driver recruitment process within a week. This decision of the Railways will reduce the burden of drivers doing over duty and reduce accidents caused by human error (driver). Railway Board Director- Establishment (Railway Recruitment Board) Vidyadhar Sharma has issued the above orders late on Tuesday evening. Hindustan has a copy of this. It is mentioned in this order that approval has already been given to recruit 5696 Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) posts on 15 December 2023. But there was a demand for additional recruitment of ALP from 16 Zonal Railways.

After reviewing it, the Railway Board has now decided to recruit 18,799 ALPs. It has been said that the Indian Railway Recruitment Management System (OIRMS) will complete the recruitment process of ALP in a week with the help of Railway Recruitment Board, Bangalore. It is known that the posts of drivers have been vacant in the railways for a long time.

A senior official said that the Railway Board has fixed the duty hours for drivers to drive trains to nine hours. But due to shortage, more than 31 percent of drivers have to drive trains for 10-12 hours. In this, eight percent of drivers are driving trains for 12 to 16 hours more.
