Kirodi Lal Meena has resigned as a minister in the Rajasthan government following the BJP’s disappointing performance in the Lok Sabha elections in the state.

During the recent elections, Meena, 72, said she would quit the Bhajan Lal Sharma government if the BJP lost any of the seven parliamentary seats under it.

Rajasthan’s Agriculture, Rural Development, Disaster Management and Relief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi allotted him all the seven seats in eastern Rajasthan for which he worked hard during the elections.

But in the Lok Sabha election results announced on June 4, the BJP lost some of these seats, including in its native Dausa. In all, the BJP won 14 of the state’s 25 seats, down from the 24 it won in the 2019 elections.
