Heeramandi: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama ‘Hiramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ is in the news these days. This web series has recently been released on Netflix. This series of Sanjay is continuously trending as soon as it is released. Many veteran Bollywood actors have demonstrated their powerful acting in this series. Artists like Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Shekhar Suman are seen in the movie. While on one hand Hiramandi is being praised, on the other hand many controversies are also emerging regarding it. In such a situation, a question has been coming in the minds of many people ever since the name of Bhansali’s niece Sharmin Segal was associated with this series. Most people believe that Sharmin might have got special treatment because it was Mama’s web series. In such a situation, now the actress herself has broken her silence on this matter.

Did Sharmin get the job easily in her uncle’s Hiramandi?

Sharmin Segal has played the important role of Alamzeb in Heeramandi, who is the daughter of Mallikajaan. Recently Sharmin gave her interview to The Indian Express. During this, he talked about many things regarding the web series. In such a situation, when Sharmin was asked whether she got the benefit of family relation by working in uncle Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series. The actress’ answer to this question left everyone speechless. Sharmin said- ‘On the contrary, I do not get any discount. He loves me very much, I will not deny it. There are days when he looks at me like ‘Sharmin, his niece’ while I am just sitting. When I see him on the set, I don’t look at him as my uncle and that’s the respect he has earned throughout his life. I can’t even change the fact that I am related to him.

After watching Devdas he realized that Bhansali is actually his maternal uncle.

Sharmin further said, ‘Despite having family ties with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, I and his sister (my mother) always maintain a professional demeanor outside, publicly we address Bhansali as ‘Sanjay Sir’. Not only this, I gave auditions 16 times in a year and learned a lot from uncle. Only then did I get my uncle’s Hiramandi. After this, Sharmin told that when she turned 18, she watched Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit starrer Devdas and after that she realized that Bhansali was her ‘uncle’.
