Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for attacking her party over inheritance tax and wealth redistribution and claimed that these assumptions were illogical, news agency PTI reported.
Addressing a rally on the 2024 Lok Sabha elections at Udgir in Latur district, he claimed that unemployment was at its highest level in 45 years and 70 million people were jobless, despite which 30 lakh of vacant positions in the central government have not been filled in the last ten. years, PTI reported.
“If the BJP claims that nothing happened in the last 70 years (under previous dispensations), then let us believe that IITs, AIIMS, big industries etc. were built now,” he said, adding that the ruling party was ” ranting” all the time. about Congress’s fault, PTI reported.
Attacking the NDA government, he said that at every wedding there is an uncle who complains about everything and gives sermons.
“Now, if this guy says there is a political party that will bring an X-ray machine to your house, scan all your savings, mangalsutras and gold, which will be taken and the wealth redistributed, you would say he has lost it.” PTI reported.
But these are the same things that Modi is raising using his position, he said.
Earlier this week, Congressman Rahul Gandhi had said that those who call themselves “deshbhakt” were afraid of the “x-ray of the caste census”.
Taking the medical term, Prime Minister Modi said that the Congress wants to confiscate people’s jewelery and small savings by conducting X-rays of their properties and valuables, PTI reported.
“Listen with your ears wide open to the sins that the Congress has committed. I want to expose an interesting fact. When Sister Indira Gandhi died, there was a law under which half of the wealth went to the Congress. Then it was said that Indiraji would inherit her wealth in the name of her son Rajiv Gandhi,” the prime minister had said, PTI reported.
Speaking in Latur at a rally for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Priyanka Gandhi said the country had seen great prime ministers from the Congress as well as other parties such as Atal Bihari Vajpayee retire, but “he (Modi) has downgraded the prime minister’s stature this short.
“Instead of seeking votes for the work done in the last 10 years, he resorts to illogical talks about a political party wanting to steal his ornaments using an X-ray machine,” he alleged, PTI reported.
Gandhi attacked the BJP over the electoral bond scheme and alleged that those who donated money to the ruling party were first raided by central investigation agencies, PTI reported.
These raids stopped after funds arrived from these companies in the form of electoral bonds, Gandhi further alleged.
The AICC general secretary also said that GST (goods and services tax) has been imposed on every (piece of) farm equipment and promised to abolish it after Congress comes to power.
Gandhi alleged that democracy was weakening as legislators were bought, governments toppled and parties divided in Maharashtra, PTI reported.
“There is no crime greater than what is happening to democracy,” he added.
The Congress has fielded eye surgeon Shivaji Kalge in the Lok Sabha constituency of Latur (SC) against sitting BJP MP Sudhakar Shrangare.
