A massive landslide blocked the highway between Kishtwar and Paddar on Sunday, PTI reported. Light to moderate rains occurred at isolated places in Jammu division today.

According to the report, officials said the landslide was triggered by rains. It affected the Kishtwar-Paddar highway near Patharnaki in Kishtwar district this afternoon, forcing the suspension of vehicular movement.

Machines have been moved to the site to clear the road as quickly as possible, they said.

The weather in most parts of the Jammu region remained cloudy throughout the day with reports of light to moderate rain in different areas, especially in the hill districts of Kishtwar, Doda, Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur and Ramban.

Light rain also fell in Jammu city early on Sunday.
 
This afternoon there was also some rain in some areas of the district.

According to a meteorological department official, Jammu recorded highs of 36 degrees Celsius and lows of 26.3 degrees Celsius, close to normal for this time of the year.

According to him, the temperature at Katra, the pilgrims’ base camp near the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Reasi district, ranged between 24.6 and 32.9 degrees Celsius.

The spokesperson forecast intermittent light to moderate rain in most places and heavy downpour in some places from July 4 to 7. Light to moderate rain or thundershower was forecast at several places in Jammu division towards late night or early morning till July 3. .

The weather service has also issued a warning for next week that includes some locations at risk for moderate thunderstorms or lightning, flash flooding, mudslides and rock spray.

Three terrorists killed in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir; weapons and ammunition recovered

Three terrorists were neutralised in an encounter with security forces in Gandoh sector of Bhaderwah in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, said Director General of Police, Jammu, Anand Jain. The search operation is on to find the terrorists, weapons and ammunition hidden there.

Talking to ANI, ADGP of Jammu, Anand Jain said, “Three terrorists have been neutralized in this encounter, and arms and ammunition have been recovered from them. A search operation is underway in the area. We have launched a search operation as soon as we received information about the presence of terrorists… Two M-4 rifles and one AK-47 rifle have been recovered…”

Addressing a press conference, ADGP Jammu said, “We have recovered two M-4s and one AK-47 rifle, grenades and essential items from the terrorists.” He said that stricter action will be taken against those who provided shelter to the terrorists and Jain said, “We will take stricter action against those who provided shelter to the terrorists. I would also like to urge people to help us find such people.”

On the emergence of new terrorist organisations, the ADGP said, “There is presence of groups in this area and a search operation is underway. As the investigation into the Chhattergala incident is also underway, it is yet to be found out whether it is a new scheme of terrorist organisations.”

He further assured that there is no threat to Amarnath Yatra and an investigation is being carried out to find the terrorists whose sketches were broadcast. Earlier on Wednesday, it was reported that two terrorists were killed in an ongoing joint operation in Gandoh area of ​​Doda in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Two more terrorists have been neutralized in an ongoing joint operation in Gandoh, Bhaderwah sector of Doda district,” ADGP Jammu said in a post on X. Arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession, he said.
