He Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) led by Mayawati On Sunday it announced Davinder Singh Ramgarhia as its candidate from Punjab’s Ludhiana seat for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, PTI reported.
Punjab BSP chief Jasvir Singh Garhi said Ramgarhia’s selection was made according to the directive of BSP national president Mayawati.
Jasvir Singh Garhi further said that Ramgarhia belongs to OBC category and is currently holding the post of president of All India Vishwakarma Foundation, Punjab and Ramgarhia Punjab Board, according to PTI.
Jasvir Singh Garhi said the BSP had already released the names of candidates for the parliamentary constituencies of Hoshiarpur, Ferozepur, Sangrur, Patiala, Jalandhar, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Bathinda and Gurdaspur in the state, according to the PTI.
Earlier, the Bahujan Samaj Party had released a new list of three candidates from Rae Bareli, Ambedkar Nagar and Bahraich of Uttar Pradesh, according to PTI.
While Thakur Prasad Yadav has been fielded from Rae Bareli, Kamar Hayat Ansari will contest from Ambedkar Nagar and Brijesh Kumar Sonker will fight from Bahraich, a scheduled caste reserved constituency, PTI reported.
The Mayawati-led BSP had already fielded Hembabu Dhangar from Hathras, Kamal Kant Upmanyu from Mathura, Pooja Amrohi from Agra and Ram Niwas Sharma from Fatehpur Sikri.
Satendra Jain Sauli has been fielded from Firozabad, Sarika Singh Baghel from Etawah, Kuldeep Badauria from Kanpur, Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi from Akbarpur and Surendra Chandra Gautam from Jalaun.
Unlike the 2019 elections, when it was in alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), the party this time is contesting the elections alone.
In its first list, the BSP nominated Mazid Ali from Saharanpur, Shreepal Singh from Kairana, Dara Singh Prajapati from Muzaffarnagar, Vijendra Singh from Bijnor, Surendra Pal Singh from Nagina, Mohammad Irfan Saifi from Moradabad, Zeeshan Khan from Rampur, Shaukat Ali from Sambhal, Mujahid Hussain of Amroha, Devratt Tyagi of Meerut, Praveen Bansal of Baghpat, Rajendra Singh Solanki of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Girish Chandra Jatav of Bulandshahr, Abid Ali of Aonla, Aneesh Ahmed Khan alia Phool Babu of Pilibhit and Dodram Verma of Shahjahanpur.
