Bihar Health Department has issued recruitment for 4500 Community Health Officers in Health Sub Centers and Health Wellness Centers. For this, B.Sc Nursing pass candidates can apply from 1st to 21st July. The appointment will be on contract basis. 40 thousand rupees will be given including 32 thousand salary per month and 8 thousand rupees incentive. Details for filling the application are available on the website of State Health Committee shs.bihar.gov.in. Earlier, the State Health Committee had issued recruitment for this post on March 9, but it was cancelled on March 12 citing unavoidable reasons. Now in the ongoing recruitment, there is no change in the vacancies of many categories. This issue may arise again due to no vacancy in the unreserved category this time too. However, according to the department, the vacancies are as per the roster. All the posts in the unreserved category are already filled. These vacancies are of backlog. There is also a problem of 65 reservations in this recruitment. The Health Department will take further decision as per the instructions from the General Administration.
The minimum age of applicants for this is 21 years and the maximum age limit is different for different categories. The maximum age for unreserved and economically weaker sections is 42 years. For women of unreserved and economically weaker sections it is 45 years. The maximum age for women and men of backward and extremely backward classes is 45 years. The maximum age limit for candidates of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories is 47 years. A provision of maximum 10 years relaxation in age limit has been made for handicapped candidates.

There is a problem in recruitment for 45 thousand posts in the health department
The health department had set a target of completing recruitment for 45 thousand posts including nurses by October this year. But now there is a possibility of delay in appointment. Recently, the High Court stayed the decision to increase the reservation limit from 50 to 65 percent in Bihar. In such a situation, until a clear guideline is not issued in this matter by the General Administration Department, there will be a problem in appointment. Due to this, the candidates will have to wait more.
The dilemma regarding the vacancy is whether the reservation will be implemented at the rate of 75 percent including 10 percent reservation for economically weaker section or as per the old calculation. Until the reservation percentage is finalized, the vacancy roster will not be prepared. The department had expedited the process for appointment on vacant posts related to the health department including doctors, dentists, nurses, ANMs, GNMs, CHOs and paramedical. The department had sought vacancy reservation in all the districts as per the roster. 1339 assistant professors are to be appointed under the Health Department and National Health Mission. 3523 specialist medical officers, 396 general medical officers are to be appointed. 1290 general medical officers are also to be appointed on contract basis.
