Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday sought support for his wife in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and sent a message to Baramati voters, telling them that they have elected his uncle Sharad Pawar’s daughter thrice, but that now they should choose their daughter. -politician, reported the PTI news agency.

Ajit Pawar’s wife Sunetra, a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate, is contesting against her sister-in-law and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule, daughter of Sharad Pawar, in the Baramati Lok Sabha seat in Pune district. Sule is the NCP candidate (Sharadchandra Pawar).

Baramati, from where Ajit Pawar is MLA, is the Pawar family’s turf.

“…You have been with the Pawars for so long, but now you have to think a little about what to do (in the Lok Sabha polls), as there are two candidates from the same family. You have to ask yourself who to support, who “It’s simple, since you have been with the Pawars for so long, just go and vote for (another) Pawar (referring to Sunetra Pawar),” he said, reported PTI.

The deputy CM, who heads the ruling NCP, was speaking at a party workers’ program in Baramati.

By voting for Sunetra Pawar, people will not break the tradition of supporting the family, the deputy CM said.

“Remember the 1991 Lok Sabha elections, when they elected the son, i.e. me. Later, they elected the father, i.e. Pawar Saheb, and then they voted for the daughter, i.e. Supriya Sule, for three terms consecutive. Now, just go and choose the daughter-in-law (Sunetra Pawar). Everything will be balanced,” he said, reported PTI.

The NCP leader added that by doing this, everyone (son, father, daughter and daughter-in-law) will be happy.

Criticizing his cousins and relatives who are currently opposing him and siding with Sharad Pawar, the deputy CM said that in none of his elections did his cousins campaign for him.

“But now everyone is working. You (cousins) did not feel like working for me when I participated in the elections. Are you going to work after these elections? There will only be Ajit Pawar and his party workers and there will be no one there.” The work (of family members) is temporary. “They are like mushrooms that grow in the rains, but after the surveys, all these mushrooms are going on a trip abroad,” he quipped, reported PTI.

Ajit Pawar said that he is exercising restraint while speaking, but if he decides to speak openly, many of these people would find it difficult to move in public or show their faces, PTI reported.

“Don’t force me to open my mouth,” he warned his family detractors.

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections for all 48 seats in Maharashtra will be held in five phases from April 19 to May 20. In Baramati, elections will be held on May 7.
