Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar on Thursday commented that the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is expected to win 30-35 Lok Sabha seats out of the total 48 in Maharashtra.
Pawar, a former Union minister, expressed optimism that the people’s demand for change would be reflected in the result of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which will be announced on June 4. Speaking to reporters in Satara district, he predicted that the opposition parties would gain points. significantly better than the 2019 elections, PTI reported.
According to the report, the MVA is a state-level coalition that includes the Congress, the NCP and the Shiv Sena (UBT).
“In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress won one seat, the NCP (SP) won four seats and the AIMIM won one seat. However, this time, it looks like our seat count will range between 30 and 35. The People are looking for changes and trends indicate that the Congress, NCP (SP) and Shiv Sena (UBT) will get the support of the voters,” Pawar said.
Maharashtra has 48 seats in the Lok Sabha, the second highest after Uttar Pradesh (80). With 24 seats already voted in the first three phases, the fourth and fifth rounds of voting are scheduled for May 13 and 20, respectively, the report added.
According to another report, Sharad Pawar on Thursday stated that people were satisfied with the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for claiming that if elected, the Congress will put a “Babri lock” on the monument. The former Union minister questioned whether a government could close a temple erected with public funds and added that Modi’s words show that he will not return to power at the Center during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in 2024, ANI reported.
According to the report, while addressing a rally in Ambejogai in Beed district in support of the party’s candidate Bajrang Sonawane, he said: “Have you ever heard a government close a temple built with the support of the people? money?”
The Rajya Sabha MP reaffirmed that the Ram temple in Ayodhya was built with donations from the people.
