The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Monday condemned the terror attack in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, PTI reported. The attack left nine dead and 41 injured.
In a statement, the J&K unit of the CPI(M) demanded compensation for the victims and also said the administration should reflect on why such incidents occur repeatedly.
“The CPI(M) J&K has condemned the terrorist attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi district, in which nine people were killed and 33 others injured. This senseless violence serves no purpose and only brings anguish and devastation to the families of the victims,” CPI (M) said according to the PTI report.
The statement further added: “The authorities must provide compensation to the families of the victims and free treatment to the injured, and the culprits must be identified and brought to justice.”
“The administration must reflect on why these incidents occur repeatedly in the area. We offer our condolences to the families of the victims,” they said.
On Sunday, terrorists opened fire on the 53-seater bus carrying pilgrims while it was heading from Shiv Khori temple to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine at Katra, near Teryath village in Poni area.
After the shots were fired, the bus fell into a deep gorge.
Authorities said 41 people were injured in the attack and 10 of them suffered gunshot wounds.
The forensic team arrived at the scene in the morning, scanned the entire area and collected various materials related to the attack, including some bullets.
Reasi terror attack: LG announces Rs 10 lakh ex gratia each for victims’ families
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has approved an ex-gratia donation of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of those killed in the terror attack on a bus in Reasi district, an official spokesperson said on Monday.
Sinha also approved Rs 50,000 for each of the injured, the spokesperson said.

The 53-seater bus, which was heading from Shiv Khori temple to Katra, went off the road after the shelling and fell into a deep gorge near Teryath village in Poni area.
The spokesperson said the district administration has set up a control room to provide all necessary assistance to those affected.
Efforts are being made to neutralize the perpetrators of the terrorist attack, the spokesperson said.
