Ravi Shankar has been appointed as India’s next ambassador to Ukraine, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement on Thursday.
Currently, Shankar is the additional secretary of the ministry.
Further, MEA said Shankar is expected to take up the task soon.
India has an extensive bilateral relationship with Ukraine, spanning all spheres of cooperation. India was one of the first countries to recognize Ukraine.
The Government of India recognized the Republic of Ukraine as a sovereign country in December 1991 and established diplomatic relations in January 1992.
India is Ukraine’s largest export destination in Asia-Pacific and the fifth largest export destination overall.
