During a rally for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra’s Amravati district, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi made several promises, including that if the INDIA alliance is elected, it will bring prosperity to millions of people and hold critical polls. .
Gandhi criticized the Narendra Modi regime, stating that its policies benefited only a few people and harmed the majority of the nation. He asserted that the INDIA alliance would strive to produce millions of ‘lakhpatis’, considerably improving the country’s economic outlook, PTI reported.
The Gandhi scion, during his speech at the rally for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, highlighted the importance of the Constitution, stating that no power could alter it. Gandhi emphasized the importance of conducting a caste census and an “economic survey” to adequately address the problems of various socio-economic groups.
The Congress Party’s manifesto included measures such as the Mahalaxmi scheme, which seeks to provide financial assistance to needy women, and the right to apprenticeship, which seeks to empower graduates and diploma holders. Gandhi believes these actions will benefit the development of the nation and lift millions of people out of poverty, the news agency report stated.
“In Prime Minister Modi’s 10 years of rule, 22 to 25 people became ‘arabpatis’ (billionaires). If voted to power, the INDIA alliance will create millions of ‘lakhpatis’,” Gandhi said, according to the PTI report.
“The Mahalaxmi scheme, which aims to provide Rs 1 lakh every year to poor women, and the right to apprenticeship, which aims to enable graduates and diploma holders to get a one-year job as apprentices and contribute 1 lakh rupees in their bank accounts, will change the face of the country and generate millions of `lakhpatis`,” Gandhi said during the rally for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
He accused the BJP of ignoring the interests of marginalized communities and trying to subvert the Constitution. On the contrary, Gandhi proclaimed his commitment to uphold democracy and promote justice for all members of society, the news agency report further stated.
Rahul Gandhi was quoted as saying: “The Constitution is not just a book, but a weapon of the poor. Between 22 and 25 people were helping Modi destroy it and every time I talk about this, Modi diverts the topic towards the Pakistan narrative and China. The poor, the Dalits, the backward minorities, the general category poor, the Adivasis, constitute 90 percent of the population and have no representation in business, government and media. There is a. 15 per cent Dalits, 8 per cent Adivasis, 50 per cent OBC, 15 per cent minorities and five per cent poor from the general category Since they have no representation, issues related to them are not highlighted as they should.
According to the report, Gandhi said, “INDI alliance is working to save the Constitution, while Modi, BJP and RSS are working to end the Constitution and democracy. I want to give the message to Maharashtra and the entire country that there is no strength in the world can change our Constitution.”
The report further states that Gandhi said, “Modi only helped his 22 industrial friends and did nothing for the common people. He implemented currency note ban and passed farm laws and GST. How many loans of the poor, students and farmers has resigned while granting a loan waiver of Rs 16 lakh crore to his 22 industrial friends.”
Gandhi also promised to resolve farmers’ concerns by waiving loans and setting up an agricultural commission. He also campaigned for greater representation of women in government and public sector jobs, as well as financial assistance for frontline workers like Aasha and Aanganwadi workers.
“Our government will waive off farm loans and create a farmers’ commission which will waive off loans as and when the need arises,” the Congress leader said, adding that the tribal community was the “first landowner of Hindustan”, while alleging that The Modi government did not invite President Droupadi Murmu to the consecration of the Ayodhya Ram temple and the inauguration of the new Parliament building.
“Our government will carry out caste-based census and economic survey which will be a revolutionary step in national interest,” Gandhi said.
