A massive cordon and search operation has been launched to find the terrorists behind the attack on a passenger bus in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in nine deaths and forty-one injuries, officials said on Monday.
Officials said the National Investigation Agency (NIA), State Investigation Agency (SIA) and forensic department visited the site of the terror attack and started investigation.
Terrorists opened fire on a 53-seater pilgrim bus on Sunday when it was traveling from Shiv Khori temple to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, situated near Teryath village in Poni district. After the shots were fired, the bus fell into the deep gorge.
While visiting injured patients at GMC and Narayana hospitals on Monday, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha declared that the terror attack was part of a sinister plot to sow discord in the Jammu area. He said such attempts will be thwarted, as reported by PTI.
To get first-hand information about the incident, senior Army officers and the Director General of Police (DGP) are expected to visit the spot.
According to officials, security troops of the army, police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have erected a multi-layer cordon around the Teryath-Poni-Shiv Khori area, which borders Rajouri district.
According to PTI reports, anti-Pakistan protests broke out in the Jammu region, particularly in Kathua, Doda Town and Katra districts, demanding more security to stop such crimes.
Alleging that Pakistan is funding terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, the protesters demanded action against their neighbour.
