During a rally in Nandurbar, Maharashtra, Congress politician Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election rhetoric, calling on him to emulate the strength and commitment of previous Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Vadra accused PM Modi of making empty comments and not addressing tribal issues, PTI reported.
According to the news agency, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, referring to Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit to Nandurbar, questioned its authenticity towards the people’s problems. She emphasized the gap between Prime Minister Modi’s promises and deeds, highlighting instances where she remained silent on crucial issues affecting the indigenous population.
“All Modiji talks about is `khokhli baatein` (empty talk) which has no weight. Yesterday he said that he respects Shabri. So why did he remain silent when several Shabris suffered atrocities in Unnao an Hathras? Why didn’t he mention a finger when the fighters were on the streets protesting against harassment, but the BJP gives the fine to the accused’s son,” he said according to the PTI report.
She asked, “What kind of leader do you want? The one who walks 4,000 kilometers and comes to you to understand your problems or a leader on whose kurta you will not find dust marks and is afraid to come close to you. Do you want?” Do you want a leader who wipes away your tears or one who sheds crocodile tears on stage? Do you want a leader who is fearless and tells the truth regardless of pressure or who lies all the time?
Vadra recalled his family’s links with Nandurbar and highlighted Indira Gandhi’s dedication to the welfare of the people. She contrasted Indira Gandhi’s humility and dedication with Prime Minister Modi’s perceived aloofness and political motives. Priyanka added, “She would preserve whatever you gave her out of love. My mother learned to respect you from Indira Gandhi. Sonia Gandhi worked to safeguard your rights to water and forests.”
“But show me a photograph of Modi ji visiting the houses of the tribals and the poor to understand their problems. He comes to you only to achieve his political motives. If the Prime Minister said that Rs 15 lakh will be deposited in his bank accounts and two crores. people will get jobs, it should have been done in 10 years,” he said.
Vadra criticized Prime Minister Modi’s leadership style and emphasized the importance of bold leaders who truly serve the people. She attacked Prime Minister Modi for not fulfilling promises made during his reign and accused the BJP of disrespecting tribal culture and traditions, the report added.
According to the report, Vadra advised Prime Minister Modi to emulate the bravery and commitment of Indira Gandhi, underlining the value of genuine leadership in public life. She urged voters to think carefully about their choices in the upcoming elections, emphasizing the importance of leaders committed to the truth and the well-being of all residents.
“President Droupadi Murmu, who belongs to the Adivasi community, was not allowed to inaugurate the new Parliament building or participate in the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. When it comes to showing respect, Modi ji backs down,” he alleged. .
“You say you are fighting corruption alone… You (PM) have all the power and official machinery at your disposal. Your party leaders say you are the greatest leader in the world and enjoy the support of the bosses from around the world… “You cry like a child during elections saying that you have been subjected to abuse… Have guts Modiji, this is public life,” he said.
“Learn from Indira Gandhi…The woman, like Durga, who divided Pakistan into two. Learn from her bravery, courage and determination. But when you call her anti-national, what can you learn from her?” he said.
Vadra further condemned attempts to weaken the Constitution and accused Prime Minister Modi of putting the interests of the rich before those of the poor. He urged people to make informed judgments that adhere to the principles of truth and inclusion promoted by the Congress Party.
