Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated Mexico’s first elected president Claudia Sheinbaum, saying it is a momentous occasion for the people of the country.

Former Mexico City mayor and climate scientist Claudia Sheinbaum was elected as the first woman elected President of Mexico following the June 2 election. She will also be the first Jewish leader of Jewish descent to hold the position.
According to The Politico report, Sheinbaum (61) received almost 58 percent of the votes, according to preliminary results from the Mexican electoral office.
Sheinbaum called it a historic moment, after thanking voters for their support. Sheinbaum stated: “For the first time in 200 years of the Republic, I will become the first female president of Mexico.” She said: “We have achieved a plural, diverse and democratic Mexico,” according to The Politic.
“Although many Mexicans do not fully agree with our project, we will have to walk in peace and harmony to continue building a fair and more prosperous Mexico,” he added.
Previously, US President Joe Biden also congratulated Claudia Sheinbaum on her historic presidential victory as the first woman from Mexico to lead the country’s government.
Biden said in a statement on Monday: “I congratulate Claudia Sheinbaum on her historic election as the first female president of Mexico.”
Biden added to the statement: “I look forward to working closely with President-elect Sheinbaum in the spirit of partnership and friendship that reflects the enduring ties between our two countries.” I expressed our commitment to promoting the values and interests of our two countries. nations for the benefit of our people.
