The Pune police have filed an application with the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) seeking a 14-day extension of the remand of a 17-year-old boy allegedly involved in a car accident that claimed two lives, an official said on Wednesday.

The preventive detention of the minor, who is lodged in an observation center in Pune, ends on Wednesday.
“We have submitted an application to the JJB seeking extension of his remand in the observation center for another 14 days,” said a Pune crime branch official.
A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday before the JJB on the Pune police’s plea.
Two IT professionals died in the early hours of May 19 in Kalyani Nagar of Pune city, Maharashtra, after a Porsche allegedly driven by the minor collided with their two-wheeler. Police say the minor was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
Pune accident case: JJB had granted bail to teenager
The JJB had granted bail to the teenager, son of a property developer, a few hours after the incident and had asked him to write a 300-word essay on road safety.
After harsh criticism, the police again went to the JJB, which modified the order and sent the accused minor to an observation center until June 5.
Police have already arrested the father, mother, two doctors and another staff member at the state-run Sassoon General Hospital for allegedly exchanging the minor’s blood samples with those of his mother.
Pune accident case: Minor’s grandfather arrested
The minor’s grandfather has also been arrested in a case related to the incident.
Police on Tuesday arrested two more people for allegedly acting as middlemen and facilitating financial transactions between the accused doctors and the minor’s father.
