Prime Minister Narendra Modi He is expected to address the parliamentary meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) party on Tuesday in what will be his first address to MPs from the ruling NDA bloc during the first session of Parliament since he took office for a third term, reported PTI. .

Though PM Modi has reportedly addressed NDA MPs on a few occasions in the past, particularly when he was elected leader before his three-term tenure, he usually addresses BJP MPs during sessions.

Official sources told PTI that all BJP MLAs and their allies have been notified about Tuesday’s meeting and have been asked to attend it.

The development assumes significance as the recently held elections resulted in the BJP losing its majority in the Lok Sabha for the first time since 2014, and it is now dependent on its allies for the continuation of the government, PTI reported.

While the BJP won 240 seats, its allies won 53, leading to the Confidentiality agreement comfortably crossing the halfway point in the 543-member House.

According to the PTI report, the NDA meeting comes amid ongoing discussions in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on the motion of thanks to Speaker Droupadi Murmu’s address to a joint session of Parliament.

Prime Minister Modi is expected to respond to the discussions in both Houses.

Meanwhile, there was a huge uproar in the Lok Sabha on Monday over Rahul Gandhi’s comments on the Hindu community, with Home Minister Amit Shah saying that the Congress leader should apologise for his remarks, news agency ANI reported.
