Stating that “communal forces” were trembling with fear in anticipation of defeat in the 2024 Indian general elections, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin called on DMK cadres to “dedicate the victory of the INDIA block to the memory of his father and (the late) former chief minister, M. Karunanidhi,” news agency IANS reported.
In a statement on Sunday, Stalin said Karunanidhi’s birth centenary will be celebrated on June 3. “The results will be known on June 4. Let us raise the flag of victory and dedicate the victory of the INDIA block to our leader Kalaignar. Karunanidhi.”
Stalin said that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for India’s 2024 general elections had interfered with the celebration of M. Karunanidhi’s centenary. However, the election work done by the party cadres was a tribute to his memory, IANS reported.
The Chief Minister said, “No one can deny his contribution. He stood for federalism and state autonomy.”
Stalin, also the DMK president, said the party was synonymous with social justice, communal harmony, rights of common people and saving Tamils from the attack of “language of oppressors” and pioneering schemes, IANS reported.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, further addressing the opposition, said: “We can hear you bemoaning the prospect of the INDIA bloc forming a `new India`.”
