One person was killed and 11 injured after their bus crashed into a wall in Gondia, Maharashtra, on Monday, PTI reported quoting a police officer.
According to the PTI report, the accident took place on the Gondia-Goregaon highway near Milltoli after the driver lost control of the bus around 7.30 am, the official said. The bus had a registration number of Madhya Pradesh.
“The bus with 35 passengers was returning from Hyderabad in Telangana. The driver Mohit Umaprasad Kirsan, a resident of Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the wall of an agricultural company complex and a weighbridge. “Of the 12 people who were injured, one person identified as Thansingh Yadav (30) died while undergoing treatment,” the Gondia rural police station official said.
A team led by inspector Chandrakant Kale cleared the road and normalized traffic after the accident, he said.
The driver has been arrested and further investigation is underway, the official added.
Maharashtra: Woman killed, two injured in bus accident on Samruddhi Highway in Buldhana
A woman was killed and two others injured in a collision between a private bus and a state transport bus on the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Highway in Buldhana district, Maharashtra, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred on the Chikhali-Mehkar stretch of Samruddhi Highway on Saturday morning when a private bus traveling from Surat to Mehkar collided with a state transport bus from behind.
A female passenger aboard the state transport bus suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital. Two other passengers were injured and are receiving medical treatment.
The driver of the luxury bus has been arrested under section 304-A of the Indian Penal Code for causing death by negligence, along with other relevant charges.
Another incident occurred in early April on the Samruddhi Highway in Nashik district of Maharashtra, killing at least two people and seriously injuring three others, according to PTI.
The van was heading from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to Nashik when it lost control and overturned at Khamble Shivar village near Sinnar. The deceased were named Bajirao Eknath Gangurde (65) and Nisha Ramkisan Gatkal (20), one of them admitted to a private hospital in Sinnar and the other to the District Civil Hospital in Nashik, according to the news agency report.
