A day before the announcement of the results of the 2024 general elections in India, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to PTI, there was no official information regarding the details of the meeting that took place on June 3.
While still important, Kumar’s JD(U), part of the BJP-led NDA, is seen as a declining force in the state amid strong efforts by the RJD to challenge the ruling party.
Except for a brief period of time, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has been at the helm in Bihar since 2005. But now there have been some doubts over his future as the BJP and the RJD are the two largest parties in the state.
Ahead of the meeting between Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Sunday said the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will win more seats in the Lok Sabha than predicted by foot polls. ballot box for India’s 2024 general elections, according to the PTI.
The news agency reported that during a press conference in Mumbai, Ramdas Athawale expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA will win over 400 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha.
Exit polls have predicted that the NDA will win between 350 and 375 seats, but the BJP-led alliance will win more seats, Athawale said on Sunday.
Republican Party of India (A) chief Ramdas Athawale, whose party is a constituent of the NDA, said: “In Maharashtra, the ruling Mahayuti will win 35-40 seats (out of 48), and in the country, the NDA will get more than 400 seats,” as reported by PTI.
The Mahayuti in Maharashtra consists of the BJP, Shiv Sena, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and the NCP, led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
On the other hand, according to PTI, Nitish Kumar has been accused of meddling in the lives of educators. Tejashwi Yadav, leader of the RJD, made these comments after the death of more than 80 people in three days as a result of the intense heat wave that affected many districts of Bihar.
This came after the Bihar Education Department ordered teachers to report to schools despite the extreme heat wave experienced in the state of Bihar.
