Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath for his third consecutive term on Sunday, marking a major milestone by matching Jawaharlal Nehru’s achievement of securing victory in three consecutive general elections.
The ceremony took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan and was attended by dignitaries from India’s neighboring countries and the Indian Ocean region, reflecting India’s commitment to its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and its ‘SAGAR’ vision.
The Modi 3.0 cabinet comprises 72 ministers, including 30 cabinet ministers, 5 independent ministers of state and 36 state ministers.
Among the senior ministers who took oath after Modi were Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Piyush Goyal.
Seven former chief ministers, including Modi himself, are part of the new cabinet. Others include Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Madhya Pradesh), Rajnath Singh (Uttar Pradesh), Manohar Lal Khattar (Haryana), Sarbananda Sonowal (Assam), HD Kumaraswamy (Karnataka) and Jitan Ram Manjhi (Bihar).
