Heavy rains, triggered by the cyclone, caused flooding in several parts of Manipur, including Imphal, where two rivers flooded several nearby areas.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh inspected the ground situation at Ima market in Imphal and nearby areas along with his cabinet ministers after a flood severely hit the state. It was after he held a meeting with his ministers, members of parliament, chief secretary and security officials.
CM Biren Singh said, “I inspected the situation on the ground in Ima Market and nearby areas along with my cabinet colleagues and MLAs,” in a post on ‘X’ in the early hours of Friday.
“All possible measures are being taken to control floods in these areas,” CM Biren Singh said while sharing a video of his on-site inspection. CM Biren Singh walked through the flooded streets along with his colleagues and took stock of the situation, as seen in the video.
Earlier on Thursday, the Chief Minister chaired a meeting with ministers, MLAs, the Chief Secretary, security officials and all officials of the department to review the flood situation in the state.

Adding in the post, CM Biren Singh updated on sealing of 17 of the 18 breached locations in river embankments and successful control of floods in the surrounding areas. “Efforts are being made to close the remaining gap and strengthen the embankments,” he adds.
The Manipur Chief Minister said that the rescue operations are being carried out by NDRF, Indian Army and Assam Rifles along with local authorities and are saving people from several flood-affected areas of the state.
To assist the state government in rescue operations, as many as 40 NRDF personnel and six additional motor boats also reached Imphal, he added.
