The Manipur government has detected 5,457 “illegal migrants” in Kamjong district, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said. He further added that steps are being taken for his deportation, news agency PTI reported.
In a post on X, Manipur CM said that out of the total biometric data of 5,173 people have been collected. According to an official, biometric data of those staying in the Phaikoh, Huimi Thana/Sangkalok refugee camps are being obtained.

The CM claimed that his government has been providing humanitarian aid to all “illegal migrants”.
“We have handled this situation with the utmost sensitivity,” he said.
Earlier this month, at least 38 more βillegal immigrantsβ from Myanmar, who had crossed into Manipur, were deported via Moreh town in Tengnoupal district, Singh reported.
According to the report, he said a total of 77 of those immigrants were deported in the first phase.
