The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday night predicted that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light rain are likely to occur at isolated places over Washim and Yavatmal districts of Vidarbha in Maharashtra. The department also said these areas may experience wind gusts with speeds reaching between 30 and 40 kilometers per hour.
Meanwhile, Brahmapuri today recorded the highest temperature in the state with mercury reaching up to 46.5 degrees Celsius. Other regions of Vidarbha like Nagpur, Akola, Chandrapur and others recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. The lowest was recorded in Mahabaleshwar at 18.5 degrees Celsius, the IMD said.
The state capital, Mumbai, recorded a modest temperature of 35.1 degrees Celsius.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) Director Mumbai Sunil Kamble said the monsoon will take eight to ten days to cover Maharashtra after reaching Kerala. Sunil Kamble said the monsoon is expected to reach Kerala in the next 24 hours, news agency ANI reported.
“If we talk about Mumbai, the temperature range of Mumbai is 35-36 degrees Celsius. And for the summer season, these are quite normal temperatures. But due to high humidity, it is between 80° and 90° Celsius. It is so even at 35 to 36 per cent Celsius, we get the feeling of 40 degrees and if you look in and around Maharashtra, the temperature range is between 38 to 40 per cent Celsius…,” Kamble told ANI. .
Weather update: Rainfall forecast in parts of Andhra Pradesh from May 30 to June 3
The India Meteorological Department on Thursday forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in parts of Andhra Pradesh for five days starting May 30, PTI reported.
Rain accompanied by strong winds is expected in parts of North Coast Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, South Coast Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) and Rayalaseema.
According to a statement from the Meteorological Department, winds of up to 40 kilometers per hour (kph) are forecast.
Apart from thunderstorms, the department predicted heavy rain in parts of Rayalaseema on June 2, according to the PTI report.
Meanwhile, a Meteorological Department official said the southwest monsoon settled over Kerala and moved towards most parts of northeast India on Thursday.
