Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will hold roadshows in East and South Delhi Lok Sabha constituencies on May 11 to campaign for AAP candidates, the party said on Thursday, news agency reported PTI.
Delhi will go to polls on May 25 in the sixth and penultimate phase of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections. The sixth phase will cover seven States and Union Territories. The counting of votes and the declaration of results will take place on June 4.
“He (Bhagwat Mann) will hold roadshows in the two constituencies,” a party leader said. CM Mann will seek votes for Kuldeep Kumar and Sahiram Pahalwan, who have been fielded from East Delhi and South Delhi constituencies respectively by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Delhi has seven parliamentary constituencies. Under a seat-sharing agreement between the Congress and the AAP, the former has fielded candidates for three Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, while the latter is contesting the remaining four.
From the BJP, Harsh Malhotra will contest from the East Delhi constituency, while Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, leader of opposition in the Delhi Assembly, has been given an election ticket from the South Delhi seat.
Earlier this week, the AAP released a list of 40 star activists for the Lok Sabha polls in Delhi and Haryana, which included Sunita Kejriwal, party convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is in custody judiciary, Manish Sisodia and others including CM Bhagwant Mann. Mann has been campaigning in all constituencies supporting AAP candidates.
On Tuesday, while addressing a public meeting in support of candidate Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar, who is contesting the Ferozepur seat, he advocated ending the supremacy of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in Punjab. Referring to the Sukhvilas luxury hotel, built by SAD chief Sukhbir Badal, Mann said: “In the 2022 assembly elections, you defeated the stalwarts. This time the Ferozepur fort must also be demolished, which means that Akali Dal should lose to Ferozepur.” “.
The Ferozepur seat is currently represented by Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, who will not contest this time. The electoral constituency will go to the polls on June 1 in the last phase.
