Teachers, students and other staff of all government and private schools in Kota, Rajasthan, have been banned from using mobile phones during school hours, an official said on Tuesday, news agency IANS reported.
A notification issued in this regard by Tej Kanwar, deputy director of School Education Department, Kota division, mentioned that teachers will have to hand over their mobile phones to the principal after reaching the school, IANS reported.
The notification was sent to all officials of the education department of Kota division.
Notably, the order came after a recent video of state Education Minister Madan Dilawar went viral. In the video, he can be heard saying that teachers will be banned from using smartphones in government schools, IANS reported.
According to the deputy director, these orders were issued about a month and a half ago.
Following the instructions of the state Education Minister, a reminder letter was issued for its strict implementation, IANS reported.
It is also mentioned in the notification that during the inspection of schools it was found that teachers and staff are using mobile phones during school hours.
Managers have also been ordered to keep employees’ mobile phones in a safe place.
The order mentions that if anyone is seen using a mobile phone in the school, action will be taken against the block education director, principal and other officials, IANS reported.
