BAFTA-winning French actress Isabelle Huppert will travel to Italy to chair the main jury of the next edition of the Venice Film Festival.
The actress has a long relationship with the festival, having twice won the Coppa Volpi in Venice for best actress, first with History of Women in 1988 and later with La Ceremonie in 1995, both directed by Claude Chabrol.
The actor has made eight films with Chabrol and also has a close connection with the Cannes Festival, where in 1978 he won the statuette for Best Actress for Chabrol’s Violette.
The Venice Film Festival is the oldest film festival in the world and is included among the “big three” European film galas and the “big five” film festivals around the world.
In 2005, Venice honored her with a Special Golden Lion for her leading role in Gabrielle, Patrice Chereau’s period drama about an imploding marriage.
