Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar said on Monday, a day before the counting of votes, that India has recorded the world’s highest voter turnout in the Lok Sabha elections and that the Indian elections are truly a “miracle “.
Rajiv Kumar said: “We have created a world record of 642 million voters. This is the historic moment for all of us. This is 1.5 times the voters of all G7 countries and 2.5 times the voters of 27 G7 countries. The European Union (EU). We thank each and every one who participated in this festival of democracy. The Indian elections are truly a miracle that has no parallel in the world.
CEC Rajiv Kumar gave a standing ovation to all the voters who participated in the Lok Sabha elections at a press conference on Monday, ANI reported.
The CEC highlighted the participation of 312 million women voters in the 2024 general elections, reflecting the ICE’s commitment to inclusive elections.
The number of female voters is 1.25 times higher than that of voters in 27 EU countries, according to ANI.
He further said that the largest global delegation to date, comprising 75 observers from 23 countries, was delighted with India’s Electoral Wonder, which displayed unparalleled scale, meticulous planning and integrity in the conduct of the elections.
“4M: Muscle, money, disinformation and MCC violations identified, confronted and addressed: Impediments to free, fair and transparent elections were addressed and responded to,” he said.
“Due to the meticulous work of the polling staff, we secured fewer polls – we saw 39 Lok Sabha polls in 2024, as against 540 in 2019, and 25 of 39 polls were conducted in just two states,” he said.
“The contribution of voters aged 85 and above is inspiring to our younger generation; they are the heroes of our democracy. They have witnessed India before independence and have shaped this country with their contributions over the last few years. 70 years,” said CEC Kumar.
The Election Commission especially thanked the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their faith in the electoral process. “Voter turnout in the state is the highest it has been in four decades,” he said.
Rajiv Kumar claimed that in these Lok Sabha elections, the electoral body has not seen any violence.
“This is one of the general elections in which we have not seen violence. This required two years of preparation,” he said.
“The Election Commission recorded a record seizure of nearly Rs 10,000 crore during this election. This is almost three times the value seized in 2019…Local teams were allowed to do their work,” said CCA Rajiv Kumar.
“The entire counting process is absolutely robust. It works similar to the precision of a clock,” the CEC said. The Chief Election Commissioner gave details about the counting process that will be followed to declare the results of the Lok Sabha elections on June 4.

According to ANI reports, some exit polls predicted that the BJP-led NDA could achieve the target of “400 peers” that BJP leaders had set in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.
According to exit polls conducted on Saturday, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance is expected to win the Lok Sabha elections for the third time with a huge majority. These polls also suggested that the party in power at the central level would do better in several states governed by other parties.
Starting April 19, there were seven phases of the Lok Sabha elections, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the BJP’s campaign. Votes will be counted on June 4.
