The counting of votes for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections took place on Tuesday, ANI reported.
According to Election Commission of India data on the 2024 Lok Sabha election results, the BJP won 240 seats, up from 303 in 2019. The Congress improved its performance by gaining 99 members.
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 292 seats, data from the 2024 Lok Sabha election results revealed, while the INDIA alliance won 230, indicating fierce competition and defying expectations, added the news agency report.
According to the ANI report, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has won a third term but will need the cooperation of other coalition parties, particularly JD(U) president Nitish Kumar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.
The INDIA group hopes to persuade some of the BJP’s partners to turn the tide in its favour.
On Tuesday, the Congress president stated that the party will start talks with its friends and possible new partners, the news agency reports.
Until we talk to our alliance partners and the new partners who will ally with them, we will talk to them too and see how we can form a majority. If I talk about all the strategies here, Modiji will become smart,” the Congress president said at a press conference after the results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections were announced.
“I thank our partners in the INDIA bloc. They all campaigned for each other and worked. Our fight has not come to an end, we have to continue fighting for the rights of the people, the protection of the Constitution and democracy, the development of nation, and border security,” he added in his speech after the results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
