The West Bengal CID on Sunday recovered parts of human bones near a canal in South 24 Parganas district during a search operation in connection with its probe into the murder of Bangladesh MP Anwarul Azim Anar, a senior official said.
The specimen was found on the southeast bank of the Bagjola canal in Krishnamati village of Bhangar, following interrogation of Mohammad Siyam Hussain, a key suspect in the case who was arrested by the Nepal police and extradited to India, he said.

“The bone parts appear to be from a human being, as suggested by doctors and forensic experts who were present when they were recovered,” the CID officer said. He has filed a suo moto case in this regard at Bijoyganj Bazar police station.
The bone parts will soon be sent for forensic examination.
“A search is on to trace other parts of the Bangladeshi politician’s body,” the officer said.
The CID had earlier recovered pieces of meat, weighing around 3.5kg, from the septic tank of an apartment in New Town area where MP was last seen.
The Bangladesh MP’s daughter is likely to arrive in Kolkata next week to take part in a DNA test in connection with the recovery of the bones and pieces of meat, the CID officer said.
