Around 2 kg of heroin worth Rs 10 crore smuggled from Pakistan was seized in Sriganganagar district of Rajsthan in a joint action by the police and the BSF, an official said on Tuesday, adding that three people, including a minor, They were also arrested in this regard. The heroin was purchased from Pakistani smugglers through drones, said Superintendent of Police Gaurav Yadav, adding that the Sriganganagar district administration and the police are making joint efforts to make the district drug-free.
The police officer said that during the check, a Swift car was stopped and searched, following which 2kg of heroin was recovered. The detainees have been identified as Manjeet Singh (20) and Nirmal Singh (36), residents of Tarn Taran district in Punjab. A teenager (minor) has also been arrested.
SP Yadav said a case has been registered against the arrested smugglers under the NDPS Act. He said both the accused had been arrested as well as the minor, who, during interrogation, admitted to ordering heroin through drones by contacting Pakistani smugglers at the international border between India and Pakistan.
