The character of Lajjo in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series ‘Heeramandi’ touched everyone’s heart. The hard work that Richa Chadha put in for this small role has clearly paid off. Giving 99 takes for a dance sequence and performing wearing an outfit weighing more than 10 kg was not easy for Richa Chadha, especially when her role was to be only for the first few episodes. Richa Chadha told in an interview that she initially felt that her role would be lost somewhere in this 8-episode series.

Richa Chadha was afraid of this

Talking to news agency PTI, Richa Chadha said, “I am happy that the risk I took was rewarded. Because this was obviously a very risky character. It was a very small role and there was always a risk that the character might get lost in the 8-episode long series. Especially when everyone in the series is a great actor. So that’s why I was a little scared that the character might get lost. I am very happy that this did not happen.”

Could relate to all the characters because..

Talking about her character, Richa Chadha said, “Girls like Lajjo are all around us. Maybe that’s why this role is getting so much love, that too when we are talking about a 1940s character.” And today we are living in 2024. People have feelings for this character because at some point or the other, I have not found anyone who has said that. Didn’t like the character. Everyone can relate to Lajjo.”
