Ian Gelder, known for his role as Kevan Lannister, the younger brother of Lord Tywin Lannister, in twelve episodes of game of ThronesHe died at the age of 74. Her husband, Ben Daniels, shared the news of her passing on Instagram on Tuesday, May 7.

Daniels’ Instagram post read: “It is with enormous sadness and a huge heart broken into a million pieces that I leave this post to announce the passing of my beloved husband and life partner, Ian Gelder. Ian was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in December and yesterday he passed away at 1:07 p.m. I quit all work to be his caregiver, but neither of us had any idea it would happen so quickly. “He was my absolute rock and we had been partners for over 30 years.”
She continued: “If we weren’t together, we talked to each other every day. He was the kindest, most giving, most generous, most loving human being. He was a wonderful actor and everyone who worked with him was touched by his heart and his light. I honestly don’t know what I will do without him by my side. He faced his terrible illness so bravely, without any self-pity. He was extraordinary and we will miss him so much after I got him out of the hospital and even though he had the worst three weeks. there, you can still see their joy and love shining through. Have a good rest, my sweet Chianni.”

Gelder’s upcoming roles included playing a vampire named Santiago in Interview With the Vampire, airing next Sunday, May 12 on AMC. He was also scheduled to appear in season 2 of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, premiering later this year.
Gelder’s agent, speaking to People, described him as “a wonderful person” and “an excellent actor” who will be greatly missed by his peers and everyone who admired him.
