A father and his son were reportedly killed when their motorcycle fell off a bridge after being hit from behind by a speeding car in Saoner town in Nagpur district of Maharashtra, the police he said on Monday, according to PTI.
The incident occurred on Sunday night on the Patnasawangi-Babulkheda highway, about 30 kilometers from Nagpur city, when the father, Pramod Choudhary (52) and his son Purvesh (18), were going on a motorcycle to attend a wedding, an official reported. he said, the news agency reported.
“A speeding car hit his motorcycle from behind. Due to the impact, the bike fell off the bridge over the Kolar river,” he said, according to PTI.
Pramod Choudhary died on the spot while Purvesh succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a private hospital in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
A case has been registered under the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicle Act against the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle. Efforts were on to trace the suspect, an official said.
Two dead after van collides with truck and crashes into guardrail on Samruddhi Highway in Buldhana
Meanwhile, in another incident, at least two people were killed when their SUV collided with a truck and crashed into the guardrail of the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district on Monday, police said, PTI reported.
The accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, according to an official.
Two occupants of the pickup truck were killed when the vehicle collided with the rear of the truck and crashed into the highway guardrail, he said.
More details of the incident are awaited, the official said, the news agency reported.
In a similar accident, one person was killed and another injured on the Sambhajinagar Highway in the district on Sunday night, police said, according to PTI.
The accident occurred between a truck and a dumper near Kingaonraja village around 11 pm, another official said, according to PTI.
The driver of the dump truck died, while the accused truck driver was injured and is undergoing treatment in Jalna, he said, adding that a case has been registered, the news agency reported on Monday.
