Police have arrested the father and grandfather of the minor involved in the May 19 accident case in Pune, and three others, in a separate case related to abetment in the suicide of a businessman’s son in the city, an official said. on Thursday, the press reported. PTI agency.
According to the police, a complaint in this regard was lodged by a man, DS Kature, who runs a construction business in Vadgaon Sheri area of Pune, against Vinay Kale, from whom his son Shashikant Kature had taken a construction loan. . work, PTI reported.
After he failed to repay the loan on time, Kale allegedly started adding compound interest to the principal amount and harassing Shashikant Kature. Fed up with constant harassment, Shashikant Kature committed suicide in January this year, they said, PTI reported.
A case was registered against Kale under sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC at Chandannagar police station in the city, PTI reported.
“During the investigation, the role of the minor’s father (a builder), grandfather and three other persons emerged in the suicide case. Now we have added sections 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC to the case, “said a police officer without giving further details about his alleged role in the episode, PTI reported.
The minor’s grandfather is currently in judicial custody for alleged kidnapping and wrongful confinement of his family’s driver, who was pressured to tell police that he was behind the wheel when the fatal accident occurred.
The 17-year-old’s father, real estate developer Vishal Agarwal, and his mother are currently in police custody in a case related to the exchange of the minor’s blood samples.
The Pune accident case occurred in Kalyani Nagar, leading to the death of two IT professionals after the Porsche car, allegedly driven by the minor, collided with their two-wheeler.
Meanwhile, the teenager’s grandfather on Thursday approached the Bombay High Court, through his lawyer Aashutosh Srivastava, with a writ petition, claiming that he was wrongfully detained and falsely implicated in the case related to the kidnapping and wrongful confinement of the driver of his family, he reported. The petition alleged that the investigating authorities, based on mere allegations and relying on a complaint filed after an inordinate delay of five days, filed the case without following due procedure provided under Section 42A of CrPC against the 77-year-old elderly man ( grandfather of the minor). ), reported PTI.
The statement stated that the driver, after being released at around 11pm on May 20 from the Yerawada police station following investigation, was received by the petitioner (the teenager’s grandfather). As he was scared and devastated and there was a risk to his life, both the driver and the petitioner mutually decided to go to the latter’s house, according to the statement, PTI reported.
He indicated that the petitioner guaranteed the safety and protection of the driver and his family.
The plea, terming the driver’s complaint as “fabricated and false” regarding his alleged abduction and wrongful confinement, asked the HC to direct the police to immediately release the petitioner, and also called for strict action against the police.
