On Wednesday morning, more than 100 schools in Delhi-NCR received bomb threats via email, prompting an investigation that pointed to a Russian server as the potential source. Initial findings show that threats are sent to all schools using a single IP address.
The Delhi Police cyber team joined the investigation into the Delhi school bomb scare and noted that the email address used had a Russian domain. However, confirmation of the origin of the email is still pending. Although VPN connections are commonly used to hide IP addresses, police are tracking them. However, the Cyber team is confident of finding it and proposes the use of the Dark Web, ANI reported.
The ANI report stated that several teams of the Delhi Police are working on various elements of the investigation, in collaboration with officials from Noida, Ghaziabad and Delhi.
Despite widespread concern, the Directorate of Education, commenting on the fear of a bomb at a Delhi school, assured the public about the safety of students and staff, noting that no harmful devices had been discovered. “Today, few schools in Delhi received fake bomb calls/mails. Delhi Police did not find anything untoward/questionable anywhere. All our students and teachers are safe. Everyone is requested not to panic. To alleviate to the parents, the students were allowed to leave. if the parents had gone to school,” the Delhi Government’s Directorate of Education said in a post on X, according to the AI report.
During the ongoing investigations, senior officials of the Delhi Police met at the police headquarters. Delhi Police PRO Suman Nalwa reaffirmed that no suspicious objects were identified during the search operations and urged parents not to fear, the ANI report added.
“Several schools have approached us saying that they have received an email about a bomb on their campus. The Delhi Police have carried out search operations, but nothing strange has been found so far… It seems that someone has done this to create panic… Just “I want to ask parents not to panic. We are carrying out an investigation in this regard,” said Delhi Police PRO.
To allay fears, the Home Ministry characterized the Delhi school bomb threat as “hoaxes.” Meanwhile, the Special Cell of Delhi Police is examining the matter but no suspicious findings have been recorded so far.
Delhi LG VK Saxena, who was touring one of the affected schools, sought a detailed report from the Delhi Police Commissioner. He urged parents to cooperate and promised them that those responsible for the threats would face serious consequences.
“I spoke to the police commissioner and sought a detailed report on the bomb threats in Delhi-NCR schools. I directed the Delhi Police to carry out a thorough search of the school premises, identify the culprits and ensure “I request parents not to panic and cooperate with the administration to ensure the safety of schools and children.
