A three-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and murdered by her 32-year-old neighbor in southwest Delhi, police said. police he said on Friday, PTI reported.

According to police, the incident occurred on Wednesday night when the victim’s family reported the kidnapping of their daughter from Kapashera area in Delhi.
“A police team was immediately sent to the spot. The victim’s mother told the police that they have been staying here in a rented accommodation for the last five years,” deputy commissioner of police (southwest) Rohit Meena was quoted as saying. the agency. PTI.
“He told us that his daughter was playing outside the house and around 6 pm, his daughter was kidnapped by a neighbor,” the DCP said.
Following her complaint, the police lodged an FIR and a team of police officers launched a massive search operation to locate the girl and the suspect.
The police, while examining the CCTV footage, spotted the suspect and the child, an official said.
“In one of the CCTV camera footage, the accused was seen with the girl going towards a drain around 7:05 pm. In the same camera, he was found returning alone without the girl around 7:25 pm.” , DCP Meena said, according to PTI.
The accused, identified as Anil (34), was located and arrested around 11.55 pm on the same day in a bus heading towards Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, he said.
“He was interrogated and initially denied playing any role in the kidnapping. But during prolonged interrogation, he broke down and admitted to killing and dumping the girl in a swampy drain located on the border of Gurgaon and Kapashera,” DCP said. according to the PTI.
Police said Anil then took the team to the drain, where they launched a search operation, they said.

“After a long search operation that lasted more than an hour in the dark, the girl’s body was finally found lying in a swampy drain,” he added.
“At that point, the defendant saw an opportunity to escape. He grabbed a police officer’s loaded service revolver, attempted to escape from custody and fired at the team. The police fired in self-defense and hit him. He was immediately arrested. urgently to Indira Gandhi Hospital,” Meena said.
“The body was examined by the FSL and the crime team. The accused was arrested and is now in judicial custody. The body has been sent for autopsy,” Meena said.
“Police are investigating all angles, including whether the girl was sexually exploited,” police officer Meena added.
