Man reunites with his family after 19 years
In another incident from 2022, Bateshwar Pannalal Jaiswal, a 70-year-old Cuffe Parade man, was reunited with his wife and three children after 19 years of being missing from their Ambedkar Nagar home. Jaiswal went missing in 2003, prompting his wife Pushpa to file a missing person’s report at the Cuffe Parade police station. Despite police efforts, he went undetected due to lack of clues and valuable CCTV evidence, according to a midday report.
The report claims that Pushpa never lost hope. In 2015, he obtained a police document verifying Jaiswal’s missing status.
Pushpa received a call from an unknown number in November 2022 and the caller claimed to be her spouse but could not reach her. He quickly notified the local police, who began a search based on technical data.
The call was traced to Mohit Hospital in Borivli East, where a police team led by ASI Arvind Sawant found Jaiswal, who was working as a guard. With minimal information, the police recognized him with the help of his family, who knew him from images.
Jaiswal reportedly left his house following a disagreement with his wife over domestic issues. He had been working as a guard in Borivli and had some health problems. He recently obtained his wife’s phone number from someone on Cuffe Parade, which led to their reconciliation.
Jaiswal’s family suffered during his absence, as his youngest son was barely 20 years old when he left home. The police offered Jaiswal counseling and arranged for a psychologist to help him adjust.
