An independent candidate from Baramati of Maharashtra in Pune on Monday lodged a complaint with the election authorities seeking action against the session. MP Supriya Sule for alleged violation of the model code of conduct, PTI reported.
Independent candidate Sandip Deokate, in his complaint, alleged that a message in favor of Supriya Sule was published on Monday through an official Instagram account of his Nationalist Congress Party (SP), although the campaign ended at 6 p.m. Sunday afternoon, according to PTI.
Speaking to PTI, returning officer Kavita Dwivedi said that an email notice was sent to the administrator of the Instagram account after receiving the complaint.
Meanwhile, Supriya Sule election representative Laxmikant Khabiya has written to election officials seeking to declare Baramati, Daund, Khadakwasla and Indapur as sensitive areas as there are “possibilities of irregular activities”.
Supriya Sule, led by Sharad Pawar, is pitted against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s wife Sunetra Pawar.
Campaign for 11 seats in Maharashtra ends; polls on May 7
Campaigning in Maharashtra for Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Elections were completed on Sunday in 11 seats that are scheduled for May 7, PTI reported.
The seats include a high-stakes battle in Baramati, where Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule is pitted against Sunetra Pawar, wife of veteran Maharashtra leader and MP CM Ajit Pawar’s estranged nephew.
The seats where elections will be held in the third phase of general elections on May 7 are Baramati, Raigad, Osmanabad, Latur, Solapur, Madha, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, Kolhapur and Hatkanangale.
Prominent contestants also include royal descendants Shahu Chhatrapati of the Congress in Kolhapur and Udayanraje Bhosale of the BJP in Satara, as well as Union minister Narayan Rane in Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg.
In total, 2.09 million people have the right to vote for 258 candidates in the third phase, for which 23,036 polling centers have been created, an election official said, according to PTI.
In the third phase there are 1,07,64,741 male voters, 1,02,26,946 female voters and 929 of the third gender, he said.
In the fourth phase, on May 13, a total of 2.28 million voters will decide the fate of 298 candidates in 11 seats, namely Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Raver, Jalna, Aurangabad, Maval, Pune, Shirur, Ahmednagar, Shirdi and Beed Lok Sabha. .
Prominent candidates in the fourth phase include Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Danve in Jalna and BJP’s Pankaja Munde in Beed.
