The Visakhapatnam police have busted a group involved in duping people by promising fake gold and currency in Visakhapatnam, with the arrest of five people in connection with the fraud, officials said on Friday, news agency ANI reported.
The accused who have been arrested were identified as Gorla Hemachandra Rao (34), Kunnuku Hemanthkumar (29), M Subbareddy (28), Danala Srinivas (34) and Janna Sunil (27), all residents of Vizianagaram, Deputy Commissioner of Police . said Pothinamallayya Palem Sunil. According to the police officials, they also detained one more person namely Somesh, ANI reported.
“Upon receiving a tip-off from the Task Force, the police nabbed the gang members who were involved in duping people with gold and fake currency on Thursday in Anandapuram. The gang reportedly targeted those who were hoping to make a fortune in a short period of time.” he said. The ACP further said that the accused planned to deceive people by urging them to pay a certain amount of money to the gang, promising to give them an even larger amount in return.
“The six individuals left the city in a car and two two-wheelers. Along with them, they were carrying fake cash, gold biscuits, coins and a chemical substance that would be useful in manufacturing fake gold and currency in Visakhapatnam. Together, The individuals planned to trick people into paying a certain amount of money to the gang, promising to give them an even larger amount in return. For example, an individual would be lured with the promise of Rs 10 lakh in exchange for a comparatively small amount. payment of Rs 2 lakh by the victim,” he said, ANI reported.
