“The increase of Rs 2 per liter translates into a 3-4 per cent increase in MRP, which is much lower than the average food inflation. It is worth noting that since February 2023, Amul has not increased prices of fresh products. bagged milk in the main markets,” GCMMF said in a statement.
This price increase is due to the increase in the overall cost of operation and milk production, he said.
Amul as a policy transfers almost 80 paise of every rupee paid by consumers for milk and dairy products to milk producers, according to the GCMMF.
“The price revision will help in maintaining remunerative milk prices for our dairy farmers and encourage them to increase milk production,” he added.
