Tunnel construction work on the underground section from Agra Fort station to Khandari junction near ISBY is progressing at a good pace. The remaining works on the 29.8 kilometer-long network stretches of the Agra Metro project have been accelerated to ensure that they are completed before the deadline next year. In February, the six-kilometer priority sector from the Taj Mahal to the Agra Fort, which will connect the two world heritage monuments, the Taj and the Fort, was green flagged.
“The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation is progressing with the underground portion of the first corridor of the Agra Metro rail project, employing four tunnel boring machines (TBMs) running around the clock. These four TBMs are working diligently at a rapid pace to complete the construction of the remaining tunnel for the first corridor,” an official said.
TBM 3 and TBM 4 have successfully completed the construction of the upper and lower tunnels from the RBS ramp area to the RBS College metro station. At the same time, TBM 1 and TBM 2 are constructing tunnels from Agra College towards Mankameshwar Temple metro station.
