On Friday, NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule, who won the Baramati Lok Sabha seat for the fourth consecutive time, said she was seeking the blessings of her cousin and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s mother by visiting her house this morning.
By defeating NCP candidate Sunetra Pawar, wife of Ajit Pawar and sister-in-law, Supriya Sule won the prestige battle for the Baramati seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule he won the seat by a margin of 1,58,333 votes. The fight for this position was closely followed, as it was the first time that members of the influential Pawar family fought against each other on their own territory.
As reported by PTI, on Friday for the first time after his victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Sule said he visited Ajit Pawar’s mother Ashakaki’s house in Baramati and sought her blessings.
“After the results, I came to Baramati for the first time. The first thing I did in the morning was to go and seek blessings from Ashakaki and other family elders,” Sule told reporters.
Sule had reportedly visited Ajit Pawar’s house and sought his mother’s blessing on polling day on May 7.
She added that the people of Baramati have given her a great responsibility by electing her for the fourth consecutive time.
Addressing the water scarcity experienced in the region, Supriya Sule said, “Addressing water scarcity is the main problem right now. Rohit (Pawar) and Yugendra (Pawar) have already made plans to mitigate the water problems. Now “We will begin to visit drought-affected regions.”
Discussions regarding the assembly elections are currently going on between the members of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and the INDIA block, Sule said.
Following the election results, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Thursday held a meeting of Nationalist Congress Party MLAs after the party performed poorly in the Lok Sabha polls, PTI reported.
NCP national president Ajit Pawar, party working president Praful Patel and state unit chief Sunil Tatkare, who retained the Raigad seat, were present at the meeting.
Meanwhile, NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar met his party’s newly elected MPs here and held interactions with them on Thursday.
The Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) won eight of the 10 Lok Sabha seats it contested in Maharashtra in the just concluded Lok Sabha elections. He fought the polls as a constituent of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) along with the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Congress.
Of the eight newly elected MPs, only Supriya Sule (Baramati) and Nilesh Lanke (Ahmednagar) were absent from the meeting at the party office.
