A 14-year-old boy was beaten up and his classmate allegedly inserted a wooden stick into his private parts at a school, sparking protests in east Delhi, police said on Saturday.
The accused has been arrested and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, police said, adding that the victim’s family suspects that more students could have been involved in the assault.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Apoorva Gupta said the incident occurred on April 2 in the premises of a private school. The victim, an eighth grade student, allegedly got into a fight with the defendant over some issues.
The victim told the police that one of his classmates, who was wearing a mask, hit him and inserted a wooden stick into his private parts. The accused also threatened him with dire consequences if he told anyone about the assault, Gupta said.
Doctors told police that a foreign object was inserted inside the boy’s back, resulting in injuries, the police officer said.
Following the incident, the victim’s parents and relatives held protests in front of the school on April 3 demanding action be taken.
The victim received counseling and legal action was initiated, another police officer said.
